Types of approval
The beacons listed here show the respective approval type and where it is installed.
X approval
approval for directional warning lights such as front or rear speed cameras.
T approval
approval for 360° beacons.
HT approval
approval for 180° beacons, whereby two pieces give a 360° warning effect and replace the T-beacon.
The ECE test guidelines describe a standardized test procedure for the approval of components subject to approval on motor vehicles, which are valid in Germany in addition to a large number of other countries. The ECE-R65 describes a Test for the approval of beacons (rotating lights, front/rear speed cameras).

warning lights on private cars?
"(2) Yellow flashing light for "private use" Yellow flashing light for "private use" must comply with the regulations according to § 53 a Abs 3 StVZO and may then only be used inside (inside also permanently attached) or outside (but not firmly attached there) on the stationary vehicle"
This means that you may use an orange beacon approved according to ECE R65 to protect danger spots when stationary as a private individual.
